How to set up your wakeboard bindings

4 october 2024

For most beginners, the best angle for setting your wakeboard bindings is 15° with the knees pointing outward. The middle position of the bindings is ideal for most people.

How far apart should you set your bindings?

How far apart you place your bindings depends on your personal preference. If you set your bindings further apart, you have more control, which is especially useful when landing after a jump. If you place your bindings closer together, you gain more freedom of movement. By adjusting the bindings to the middle position, you get the best of both worlds.

At what angle should you set your bindings?

An angle of 15° with the knees pointing outward works for most people. However, try different settings to discover what feels best for you!

Determine your front wakeboard foot

Everyone develops a preference for standing with their left or right foot forward. This is different for everyone, so experiment to see what works best for you! Most people place their dominant foot at the back. If you’re not sure which foot is dominant, you can ask someone to give you a little push from behind. The leg you step forward with is your dominant foot. As you get better at wakeboarding, you can, of course, switch stances for extra challenge and to learn new tricks!
