Choose your wetsuit wisely ... temperature matters
The days getting longer and you’re looking forward to a day on the shore. But how to choose a wetsuit for suitable for all season's, or specific ones, or certain temperatures...?
Despite of what most people think, wetsuits aren’t meant to keep you dry. A wetsuit is meant to protect your body and keep you warm during your water sports practices. Choose your wetsuit wisely and take differences in
stretch,
neoprene-thickness and
technical innovations into account.
Water temperature and
weather circumstances serve as a good starting point. When facing colder waters and heavier weather circumstances go with a
full suit or a
Steamer. These ranges are engineered with thicker neoprene (starting from
3/2 mm up till
5/3 mm) and are equipped with lots of technical innovations to keep the heat and loose the water –
by glued seams for instance. Choose a shorty and/or thinner neoprene when you go and play on and in pleasant water temperatures: this range starts from
1.5 mm neoprene-thickness and can be recognized by innovations like
breathable stitched constructions.
