Jason Young took 2nd place at the British Jetski Championship
17 April 2014
Last weekend the first round of the 2014 British Jetski Championship occured. Current SKI GP Champion and newly sponsored Jobe Sports rider Jason Young was keen to get off to a winning start! He is looking to have a triple back to back success this year with already winning the elite class in 2012 and 2013. With all the development during the close season and his recent victory in the inaugural Winter Championship, he was in an optimistic mood.
Onto the first race and with a field of highly charged skis that included a number of World, European and British Champions, it was going to be a competitive weekend. The lights turn green and Jason found himself in an almighty tussle with veteran past champion Simon Gill. He came out of lap one in 2nd place and that’s where he finished! Although the 23 year old Scotsman did push for the entire race and just ran out of time to get past his main adversary. It looks as though, even at this early stage of the season, it is going to be a two way battle between Gill and Young, with him sitting 21 points behind. With a further 5 rounds to go there is still plenty of racing to go before the title is won in 2014.
So the focus now moves to the first round of the European Championship, which is being held in the fantastic surroundings Eau d’Heure, located in the South-Western part of Belgium.
