Three reasons why stand up paddling keeps you healthy
22 august 2018
In today’s society life is getting faster every day. Do more in less time. Work, sports, a social life, household, social media and hobbies; it can be stressful from time to time. Therefore it’s important to recharge your battery every now and then to make sure you are full of energy again to take on every day life. Good news: SUP recharges your battery. Read on the get to know how.
1: Enjoy the beauty & silence of Mother Nature
Every day city life has a lot of stimuli and sounds coming at you every minute, every hour and every day, 24/7. However, our bodies have not yet adapted to that much stimuli. The reason is because human cultural evolution runs faster than evolution of our bodies. Evolution takes millions of years and because of that, the evolution of the modern man is still centuries (if not thousands of years) behind, about at the time we used to roam the lands hunting and scavenging for food. Still, every day city life looks far from that. You can imagine exploring Mother Nature is what we are made for. What better way to do that on a SUP-board? Join thousands of others who also found out!
2: Get healthy again and work your posture
In line with the above, evolution did not adapt our bodies yet to doing work while sitting in office on a chair, driving cars while sitting, meeting others while sitting and all the other activities we do while sitting, to even sitting on a toilet. Often, we tend to lean forward while we sit and bend our upper back. This is the opposite of thoracic extension, which is the proper posture for humans. In order to prevent the wrong posture, work your core and muscles in the upper back. This is where SUP comes into play again. While paddling you work your core, stand up tall in the right posture and work the muscles around your shoulders. In other words: paddling after sitting an entire week is healthy for you!
3: Get together again
We mean REALLY get together again. When you paddle with friends and family, you are living in the moment again. Your smartphone (except for the #jobemoment picture of course), your television and your PC are most probably not with you on your paddle board. Enjoy the fun, enjoy being together and enjoy exploring. Oh, did we say SUP is a perfect activity for a date?
